Apparently, according to The Guardian, universities are looking to monitor some aspects of students’ lives inside and outside of lectures, centrally, such as monitoring attendance, meetings with tutors and loans from the library.
Meh, I don’t really care but the last one seems like a good idea. I’ve seen the film Seven. Obviously this would be a great way for GCHQ to monitor students access of provocative materials potentially identifying future criminals. Don’t all serial killers read Dante? All spree killers Catcher in the Rye? Does just mentioning GCHQ mean I’m now on a watch list?
And, of course, Michael Gove will be able to find out all trainee teachers who have read Marx and block their employment….
I believe that is what the government calls “impact”….
