It’s that time of year when all psychology department participant pool systems are winding to a close. If you’ve never heard off them then this is the jist: take part in certain amount of research as a participant and then in your final year you get the undergrads to take part in your experiment.
But, the end of play is nigh. After having to hear from numerous students every year that from Jan-Mar, when the final years need student participants, they can’t get them. Zero interest.
Now that projects are submitted, they all come out of the wood work….
“But I still need 2 hours!”
And, of course, as the projects are submited no-one want to recruit them!
There is something delightful symmetrical in this. Also completely unorganised and chaotic.
I’ve heard this referred to as Etherlred syndrome!
